Epidaurus is a historic city in the prefecture of Argolida on its eastern side. It is built at the foot of the mountains Arachneos, Korifaio and Tithio, where, according to mythology, Asklepios was born where his worship began there for the first time in 60 BC. century. Ancient Epidaurus

The village of Ancient Epidaurus is located at the eastern side of the county, by the coast of Saronikos. Ancient Epidaurus is the descendant settlement of the ancient city of Epidaurus. Therefore, there are a lot of ancient findings scattered through the area, the most renowned one being the Small Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus, which dates back to the 4th century B.C. and is dedicated to Dionysus. Outside the church of Panagitsa, as locals call it, are located foundations of the castle of the ancient city.
The Epidaurus fest brings lots of people to the town of Ligourio, at the foothills of the Arachnaio mountain. In the entrance of Ligourio, the museum of natural history "Kotsiomyti", depicts the mineral, palaeontological and natural wealth of Peloponnese with its rare exhibits. The most stunning exhibit is a 235 million year old ammonite which was found at the ancient theatre of Epidaurus.
